It was purpose-built in 1999, to replace former school Woodside. It achieved national architectural recognition for its design, with a key rotunda feature.

Curriculum

All students follow the National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) and Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11).

At Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9), students are taught the following subjects: Maths, English, Science, ICT, Modern Foreign Languages, Design & Technology, History, Geography, RE, Drama, Music, Art, PE and PSHCE.

At Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), students are taught the following compulsory subjects: Maths, English, Science, ICT, RE, PE and PSHCE. There are then a range of option subjects that students can select and these include: History, Geography, Drama, Music, Design & Technology, French, Media Studies, Art, Photography, and a range of vocational subjects, such as Construction, Child Care, Leisure & Tourism and Hospitality & Catering.

Typically, a student will study 7 or 8 subjects at GCSE leading to 9 or 10 grades.
